Title Card: She invited her friend Julie who is a board-certified specialist in oncology nutrition and a registered dietician nutritionist to talk about side effect management with Verzenio.
VO Julie: So how influential was it for your kind of doctor to help you understand the process...

[Two women stand in front of a kitchen island talking to each other. It cuts back and forth as they talk to each other.]
Julie: of choosing Verzenio in the first place?
Caption: Verzenio + hormone therapy showed a 35% reduction in the risk of cancer returning, compared with hormone therapy alone.
Laura: She was pretty clear with me as we headed towards the end of active treatment that there were...
Caption: In a study, 85.5% of people taking Verzenio + hormone therapy were alive without their cancer returning vs 78.6% taking hormone therapy alone.
Laura: ...still some options available to me and including hormone suppression, which I think people are sort of used to now.
Caption: Data was assessed at 48 months; the study is ongoing to see if there is a survival benefit.
Laura: So in combination with hormone therapy, she said this would reduce the likelihood that I would have to face a recurrence.

Title Card: How did your doctor approach the topic of side effects?
VO Julie: So how did your doctors talk with you about what side effects you might face?
00:59
[Two women stand in front of a kitchen island talking to each other. It cuts back and forth as they talk to each other.]

Caption: Verzenio may cause serious side effects, including: Diarrhea is common with Verzenio, may sometimes be severe and may cause dehydration or infection.

Title Card: From a nutrition standpoint, what was the most helpful?
VO Julie: So from a nutrition food standpoint, what was actually the most
01:25
[Two women stand in front of a kitchen island talking to each other. It cuts back and forth as they talk to each other.]
Julie: helpful advice for you as you went through these challenges?
Laura: Accepting that a simpler meal with less ingredients was easier for my body to digest. I food journaled and I wrote down what I was eating and then when I would have a flare, I maybe didn't know what was causing the diarrhea and I did finally identify, "Oh, look, I had eggs both times." So it was much simpler than I thought. It was actually about simplifying more so than let me do all these new things.
Julie: Yeah, I think for a lot of people just during treatment, they don't realize how much record keeping is important across the board, but especially with food. A food log is pretty key in figuring out what those foods are and it's different for everybody.
02:17
Title Card: When did your doctor talk to you about a dose reduction?
VO Julie: So when did your doctor bring up the idea of a dose reduction?
02:20
[Two women stand in front of a kitchen island talking to each other. It cuts back and forth as they talk to each other.]
Laura: They sort of let me know it was a possibility right away and they told me to be aware that an adjustment might be necessary at some point. What I needed was a dose that I could take on a continual basis for the entire two years and stick with the treatment.
Caption: Take Verzenio exactly as your doctor tells you. Your doctor may change your dose if needed. Do not stop taking Verzenio or change the dose without talking to your doctor.

Title Card: What advice do you have for women taking Verzenio?
Julie: So what advice do you have for other women who are taking Verzenio?
02:46
[Two women stand in front of a kitchen island talking to each other. It cuts back and forth as they talk to each other.]
Laura: Identify why they're willing to take a medication that might cause side effects. I'm taking it because I don't want to be diagnosed with cancer again. I don't want to have a recurrence. I'm taking it because I want to be around for...
03:00
[The two women pour milk and protein powder into a cup. Preparing all the ingredients for their smoothie. The women are happy as they work together. They tap their glasses in cheers and take a sip with a smile. And the women continue their conversation.]
VO Laura: ...um my kids. I want to be around for my mom. When things are hard, just say like, "Okay, can I get through this? Can I figure out what this problem is?" Most of the time you can if you can see the goal at the end of the road. You know, if it keeps you going, that's what you need to think about.
